Drinking water

Main source of drinking water

Access to drinking water for the population of the municipality is still worrying despite the efforts made so far. According to the EMICOV (2008) surveys, the population rate without access to drinking water was estimated at 40.8%. The rest of the population meets its drinking water needs mainly through manual pump drilling that exists in all districts. But the big problem remains the physical accessibility of these hydraulic infrastructures because of the isolation of certain hamlets and the state of the access tracks to these water points. To get supplies, women and children, especially girls, are the chore of water all day long. Thus, the populations of certain localities of the commune continue to use the water of the wells, the marigots and rivers of dubious quality and whose consumption often leads to waterborne diseases. The most used drinking water is unprotected wells and river water. Some communities, including those of Kpokissa, Koussoukpa, Massi, use the waters of Hlan, Samion and Koto as drinking water. The insufficiency of drinking water points (pumps, boreholes and food of the SONEB) is the central problem that meets the social actors of the commune.

Availability of drinking water

The main problems concerning availability are due to the physical accessibility of water infrastructures due to the isolation of certain hamlets and the state of the access roads to these water points.

The SONEB network knows about water ruptures untimely. So there is no period during which water is scarce, but almost nonexistent.

Water control in agricultural production

No strategy is developed in the municipality of Zogbodomey for the control and management of water.
